Wow - What a rush!! Being in a Runner-up position in the Petgroomer.com essay contest was no less thrilling and exciting than congratulating Ellen Ehrlich for winning this contest with her entry in this competition. What an honor it was for me to be included with all those who competed and were recognized in their efforts.
Another exciting announcement is that our book 2 Lion-Hearted Groomers ... is going to New York and showcased at the Book Expo America, but presented to Oprah Winfrey too! When the offer was made by our publisher to us about having a second edition of our book printed with a special dedication to Oprah, we couldn't resist.
Our publisher will have two booths and they are reserving a special display for books dedicated to Oprah, America's number one book promoter. They will also send a copy, dedication page to Oprah's studio as they prepare to launch Oprah's new 24 hour TV channel where she is expected to host a new book-club show.
Another bit of news was that on April 6th, 2010, I made the front page news in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune regarding an off topic issue regarding bullying. My co-author Michael and I interviewed with the staff writer of this newspaper and discussed my experiences with bullying from 40 years ago. He included his knowledge on how schools are dealing with this issue. Unfortunately, this problem is far from over and something more needs to be done for schools that are not appropriately addressing this issue. Per the staff writer, "it was well read and very much related to" as many people around the region wrote in to her and confirmed their own personal bullying experiences. What connects this issue with our book is that my own personal experiences with bullying is documented on page 80 and of course, the title of our book was mentioned in this article as well.
A couple of other promotionals that I'm doing is that we're offering 2 Lion-Hearted Groomers ... $24.95. The price includes tax, shipping/handling, a bookmark, review sheet, and a signed copy by me. I have a few copies on hand and it's first come, first served. All other orders received will take approximately 4-6 weeks after that.
