I spent a day at Pasadena Groom Expo. What a nice little show! It seemed busier then last year, which is good news for our industry. In our recovering economy if the groomers are busy, the vendors will do well. It’s a nice trickle down effect. There were many vendors at the show including many of my favorites, Chuck from the Groomers Helper and Natures Specialty. You could certainly pick up everything you needed from shears to shampoo. Even Randy from Precision Shears was there sharpening up a storm. I was busy as a bee all day! I was able to say hello to Kristin Fulton (gracy rose) and bring her some of those red velvet cupcakes she has a craving for. I got to meet some of my friends from petgroomer.com that I always enjoy. It’s always wonderful to see my author friend Donna from 2 Lion Hearted Groomers. I even had some people recognize me from my book. How fun is that!
One of the things that made this show so memorable was having Jodi Murphy groom my daughter’s portie, Boba, in the Portuguese Water Dog seminar. He’s a young guy, less then a year. We were so proud of him! He stood like a soldier while Jodi snipped and trimmed. Now we can’t stop admiring him! Blake and I have decided we need to fly Jodi from NJ to Santa Clara every four weeks to keep him on the proper maintenance schedule. lol
I also got a chance to see Jodi’s new line of grooming apparel. She’s has a magic touch! She’s put together a nice assortment of smocks, pants and even a skort. Just darling! Everything is well constructed in bright colors with high quality fabrics and trim. I’m looking forward to wearing my new smock. Thank you Jodi!
There’s lots of action ahead! Atlanta Pet Fair and Intergroom are right around the corner. When March hits I start to smell spring. The days are getting longer, the snow is melting. I’ll forget the hardships of mobile grooming through the winter months. In April I’ll be heading to Maine to groom kitties with Daryl Conner. I so look forward to everything on my agenda. I also have many new ideas and projects that I look forward to sharing with you all in the future. As I’ve said before, I have an endless amount of enthusiasm for grooming and the grooming industry. I appreciate all my grooming friends, near and far, from the newbees to the experts. Sometimes when I look at my standard poodle, Jesse, I think to myself, “Thank you. If it weren’t for you I would not be where I am today.” My life was forever changed the day we brought a puppy home.
