Greetings Groomers! Let’s Blog! Welcome to the Groomwise BBird Talks blog at petgroomer.com. AnOTHER BBird blog? How is this one going to be different from the GroomBlog or AskBBird, my other two blog sites? Glad you asked! Here at Groomwise , I will be writing especially for other professional groomers. Although anyone might find there way to here, the general character of GroomWise is clearly groomer-to-groomer.
Although I have a wide range of topics in mind, including customer service, marketing, groomer survival, holistic grooming, as well as my favorite specialty, the science of shampoos and conditioners, I have learned that web writing has a way of having an unpredictable life of its own. I want to stay flexible, so I can write as the need arises or the muse calls, rather than stick to some intentions I have today.
In addition to new material, I plan to archive some of my other articles here. Given the unpredictability of cyber space, it is wise to have duplicate presence of important materials. I promise to add plenty of fresh new material.
What have I been up to lately? Here are some pictures of recent grooming at Transformation Pet Center, Tucson, AZ.
Matty, a 3-year old Bichon Frise, turned out rather nice (If I may say so myself).
I love it when Bichon owners who want a full style find my service. After I scissored this lovely dog, I had to clip down another Bichon with a #5 blade and clip out half her cheeks because she had not been touched with a comb for 10 weeks. I do that kind of work, too.... I just don't take pictures of that work.
This Wire Fox Terrier, was a new client in need of a major transformation.
Oh! That’s the name of my salon, Transformation.
Here's Belle before....
And here she is after grooming. The full article about this grooming can be found at the Groomblog. Click HERE to go there, but wait until you finish reading the whole article.
Do these pictures seem small to you? They do to me. Let me try to insert a photo without resizing, and see if it will be better.
Hmm. Guess not. This looks like the size we will have here. "Lambchop" is one of most regular Bichons. He is groomed every two weeks. Because he is always matted, the price is $85.00. When it comes to setting my prices, I practice what I preach. You should, too... practice what I preach. I have what I call my "happy price". That's the price at which I am happy to see the dog in the book for tomorrow. I mean it when I say that the best way to prevent groomer burnout is to make good money for your work. Thank you.
In case you think I am all about perfect breed profiles, here is a shot of my own Bichon, Diva, as she appeared for Halloween 2008.
Excuse me, but I think my little girl, is sooo cute. I love her ponytails, it's so "girlish". My assistant, Dave-the-Slave, first came up with this double topknot look for her. Her hair is fine and floppy, so this is practical as well as cute.
Enough for tonight. Welcome again.
Great pictures! Just wanted to mention that you'll get a larger photo if you click on them, so don't worry about the small images.
